TERESE WALKEAPAA

Terese WalkeapaaTerese is our Program Director. She has over twenty-two years of professional afterschool child care service experience in the local Auburndale, Massachusetts community, including her eleventh year at WASC as our founding Program Director.

Terese graduated from Newton North High School in 1988 and went on to receive an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Massachusetts Bay Community College in 1991.

Terese's work skills and credentials extend back to her experiences starting in 1988 when she took on a leadership role with the Boy Scouts of America - Norumbega Council Explorer Presidents Association (EPA), where she resided as President for two consecutive years. She then moved on to become Advisor of that association, as well as a Trainer for the Boy Scouts of America - Knox Trail Council. She remained active in these organizations until 1998. During her tenure with the Boy Scouts of America, Terese became a state licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and an American Heart Association (AHA) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor.

After entering the afterschool child care profession with another accredited Auburndale afterschool program, Terese worked through the ranks from Group Leader to Assistant Director and was chosen in 1999 to represent the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) as a National Endorser, which is a position she still holds. She is currently Basic First Aid and CPR certified.

Currently, Terese is training to become an Endorser for the Council On Accreditation (COA), which is a nationally recognized accreditation system for the afterschool programs of America, Canada and Japan.
